YANGON: Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) candidates—former Major General (retired) Teza Kyaw and Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung—held their election campaign rally in Obo Ward, Aungmyaythazan Township, Mandalay Region, which is their respective constituency on Sunday (Nov 10).
Former Major General Teza Kyaw is contesting as a Pyithu Hluttaw (lower house) candidate, while Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung is running for a seat in the Region Hluttaw (Regional Parliament). In addition, U Khin Maung Myint is contesting as a candidate for the Amyotha Hluttaw (upper house), and U Myo Myint is also running for the Region Hluttaw, all representing Aungmyaythazan Township.
The group of candidates began their campaign tour at Obo Ward, where they met with party members and local residents. During the public gathering, the candidates introduced the party’s policies, electoral platform, and pledges they plan to implement for the people.
“I want to answer the question people often ask—whether we’ll still come meet you and listen to your problems after the election. I promise we will. Please vote for me and my team here in Aungmyaythazan, and I will keep returning. I already come often, but since I have to travel across the whole region, my time is limited.
"I will do my best to address every issue you bring forward. Many candidates make promises before the election and disappear afterward, only to reappear at the next election. That won’t happen with us. This is from my heart—I love Mandalay.
" I’ll do anything I can for Mandalay. I don’t want to make big promises; I want to prove myself through action,” said Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung, who is contesting as a Region Hluttaw candidate.
U Myo Aung currently serves as the Chief Minister of Mandalay Region. Before assuming this position, he held ministerial posts in three departments within the Mandalay Region Government and previously served as head of the Roads and Bridges Department and the Buildings Department under the Mandalay City Development Committee (MCDC) during previous administrations. - Eleven Media/ANN
