Brunei, Saudi Arabia sign haj agreement for 2026 pilgrims

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The signing of the Hajj Management Agreement for Brunei Darussalam Pilgrims for 2026 took place following a bilateral meeting to discuss matters related to the management and arrangements for Brunei’s pilgrims for next year’s haj season.

The official signing ceremony at the Assila Hotel in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia saw Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs of Brunei Darussalam Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Mohd Tashim Hassan representing the Brunei government, while signing on behalf of the Saudi Arabia government was Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia Dr Abdul Fattah Sulaiman Mashat.

Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to Saudi Arabia Harun Junid, the Acting Consul General of Brunei Darussalam in Jeddah and officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs were also present.

The agreement builds on earlier discussions held during an online meeting on the management of Brunei pilgrims for the 2026 haj season, which focused on ensuring all procedures are conducted in an orderly manner and in accordance with established regulations and timelines.

It aims to ensure that Brunei pilgrims can perform their haj rituals safely, comfortably, and in a well-organised manner.

Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Mohd Tashim and his delegation also attended the opening ceremony of the 5th Edition of the Hajj Conference and Exhibition on Sunday, along with other scheduled events. – Borneo Bulletin/ANN
