SINGAPORE (Xinhua): Passengers on Singapore's Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) can now read even more poems displayed inside train carriages, as the second season of the "Poems on the MRT" initiative began on Thursday.

A total of 145 poem excerpts are featured this year, including 50 new additions.

The poems, written in English, Chinese, Malay, and Tamil, are printed and displayed inside the trains, each accompanied by a QR code that commuters can scan to read the full poem and its translations.

The first season was launched on November 1, 2024. The second will run until November next year.

Local writer Chow Teck Seng said the poems were chosen for their accessibility and ease of translation, allowing commuters to enjoy "a light and pleasant literary experience on their way home." -- Xinhua
