Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong concludes visit to Brunei on Tuesday (Nov 4)


BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Prime Minister and Minister for Finance of Singapore Lawrence Wong and his delegation departed Brunei Darussalam on Tuesday following the conclusion of the 11th Young Leaders’ Programme (YLP).

Present at the Brunei International Airport to bid farewell to the Singapore delegation were Minister of Home Affairs Dato Seri Setia Awang Ahmaddin Abdul Rahman as Minister-in-Attendance, among other top officials.

Also present were Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Major General Dato Paduka Seri Muhammad Haszaimi Bol Hassan and Acting Commissioner of Police Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Mohammed Saifullah Pengiran Idris.

Accompanying Prime Minister Lawrence Wong were Minister for National Development Chee Hong Tat, Senior Minister of State at the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Manpower Dr Koh Poh Koon, Minister of State at the Ministry of Digital Development and Information and Ministry of Education Jasmin Lau, Senior Parliamentary Secretary Goh Hanyan, and Dr Syed Harun Alhabsyi, Senior Parliamentary Secretary at the Ministry of Education and Ministry of National Development.

Prime Minister Wong’s visit reaffirmed the special and longstanding ties between Brunei Darussalam and Singapore, and underscored both nations’ continued commitment to the Young Leaders’ Programme as a platform for nurturing bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual importance.

The visit is an annual exchange programme between Brunei Darussalam and Singapore to further strengthen the longstanding bilateral relations and to provide a platform for future leaders from both countries to exchange views on bilateral, regional, and global development cooperation.

The programme is hosted alternately between the two countries, with the most recent edition held in 2024 in Singapore. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
