Hong Kong lawyer pleads guilty to sex with 12-year-old girl and filming acts

A Hong Kong lawyer has admitted to having sex with a 12-year-old girl twice and taking more than 200 photographs and videos of the illegal acts.

The District Court heard on Monday that Kelvin Luk Kin-ting, 40, befriended the Form One pupil on dating app “Heymandi” and claimed that he was around 28 to 29 years old when they first met on March 4 last year.

Luk, formerly a consultant at local law firm HY Leung & Co LLP, kissed the girl at a Ma Wan beach that morning before taking her to his high-rise flat at the Park Island residential complex to have sex with her.

They met at the same flat again on March 28, during which the girl agreed to have sex with him after drinking a few cans of beer.

The court heard that the lawyer upset the girl by removing his condom midway through intercourse, but decided to continue with the act anyway.

Luk took a total of 204 pictures and nine videos of the girl while she was naked during the two encounters.

On May 4, the girl’s father inspected her mobile phone and found that she had sent her naked photographs to the defendant on Telegram. He filed a police report the next day.

Chat records showed the lawyer had exchanged provocative messages with the pupil, saying that he loved and missed her while asking for her naked pictures and videos of her touching herself.

Luk pleaded guilty to two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 13, two of making child pornography and one of procuring a person under 16 for producing pornography.

Deputy Judge Katherine Lo Kit-yee adjourned sentencing until November 17, pending psychiatric and psychological assessments of the defendant.

The lawyer has been remanded in custody since being charged in May last year. - SOUTH CHINA MORNING POST
