The much-awaited swash-buckling "Sword and Beloved" premieres on iQIYI International on Saturday (Oct 25)

SINGAPORE: iQIYI International announces that its new historical fantasy drama “Sword and Beloved”, starring Cheng Yi and Li Yitong, will premiere exclusively on iQIYI International on October 25.

Produced by iQIYI International, with Yuewen Pictures and Stellar Media as co-producers, the series is directed by Du Lin and written by Miu Wenjing and Ding Ya.

Alongside the lead actors Cheng Yi and Li Yitong, the cast also includes Guo Junchen, Zhang Zhiyao, Tan Kai, and Fan Ming in special roles. The story explores faith, growth, and the courage to protect the greater good.

In the drama, Wang Quan Fugui (played by Cheng Yi) is raised as the ultimate weapon to eliminate demons. Growing up under the strict rules of his family, he struggles with the question — “Why do I wield the sword?”

Through years of trials and inner conflict, he learns to face his fears and discovers the true meaning of his “sword heart.” His path is not a simple hero’s journey but a deep process of self-reflection and awakening — one that transforms him from a confused youth into a protector of all living beings.

Beyond individual growth, “Sword and Beloved” also portrays a group of heroes united by justice. Wang Quan Fugui’s awakening is guided by his unique demon allies, forming bonds that transcend race and self-interest.

Together, they fight for the common good, breaking away from the traditional “good versus evil” framework. Through its layered characters and complex moral choices, the show builds a rich world where humans and demons share the same pursuit of truth and compassion.

The production team paid meticulous attention to detail, from elegant costumes and intricate ancient relics to powerful visual effects. Every element reflects the world’s authenticity and emotional depth.

The flying sword sequences, the dazzling light of combat, and the grand battle scenes all showcase cinematic-level craftsmanship, promising viewers an immersive visual experience.

From Saturday (October 25), tune in and join this epic journey — where the heart of the sword guards all living souls.
