Six killed in flooding in central Myanmar's Magway region

YANGON: Six people were killed after flooding triggered by heavy rain in central Myanmar's Magway region, an official from the Natmauk Town Fire Services Department told Xinhua on Monday (Sept 29).

The flooding occurred in Meizalipin village in Natmauk town, Magway region. Creek water levels rose on Saturday and Sunday, sweeping away two houses, he said.

A family of six in one house died, while the other house was destroyed with no casualties, he added.

The water level receded on Monday morning, he said, adding that it was the first time the town had experienced such flooding. - Xinhua
