Fire reported near Tokyo's Haneda airport, flight unaffected

TOKYO: A fire broke out Monday (Sept 29) at a demolition site near Tokyo's Haneda Airport, but the incident has not affected air traffic, local firefighters and the Transport Ministry said.

According to Kyodo News Agency, an emergency call reporting black smoke and fire at the site in Ota Ward was made at around 9.10 am.

The ministry's airport office said the fire is believed to have started at a hangar that was being dismantled.

Firefighters and police said no one has been confirmed injured or missing.

The blaze was almost extinguished at around 10.40 am, according to firefighters. - Bernama-Kyodo
