Four Chinese nationals arrested for kidnapping and human trafficking activities in Cambodia

PHNOM PENH (Khmer Times): The Cambodian special police squad has arrested four Chinese nationals for the kidnapping and human trafficking of three people in the city.

On September 17, 2025, at 1am. residents reported that in front of the Diamond Casino in Village 4, Sangkat 4, Preah Sihanouk City, a group of unidentified Chinese suspects had kidnapped a Chinese national, put him in a car, and then fled.

With the coordination of the procedure from Chhay Sotra, Deputy Prosecutor of the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Court, led by Brigadier General Nop Panha, Deputy Commissioner of Criminal Police Planning and a team of experts, conducted a careful investigation in cooperation with the Kampong Siem District Police Inspectorate of Kampong Cham Provincial Police Headquarters and the Poipet City Police Inspectorate of Banteay Meanchey Provincial Police Headquarters.

On September 18, 2025 at 6am., 7 suspects, male, all Chinese nationals, suspected of being involved in the above case, were arrested at National Road No. 71A in Anlong Snook Village, O Svay Commune, Kraang Siem District, Kampong Cham Province, and brought to the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Police Headquarters for questioning regarding the above case.

After hours of questioning and research, it was determined that out of the seven people, four suspects were indeed involved in the above crimes, while the other three were victims of targeted human trafficking.

Currently, the police are conducting inquiries and will continue to follow legal procedures. - Khmer Times
