ULAANBAATAR: On September 4, 2025, Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, the President of Mongolia, spoke by telephone with Republic of Korea President Lee Jae Myung.
President Lee thanked President Khurelsukh for his congratulations on Lee’s election as the 21st President of the Republic of Korea and extended greetings on the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Both heads of state expressed satisfaction that bilateral relations and cooperation have expanded across social and economic sectors and are now developing at the level of a “strategic partnership.”
The leaders discussed steps to deepen economic cooperation, stressing the importance of high-level reciprocal visits to build mutual trust. They agreed to continue advancing ongoing projects and programmes, to press ahead with negotiations on the Mongolia–Korea Economic Partnership Agreement, and to expand collaboration in areas including rare metals and information technology.
Both presidents highlighted the role of people-to-people ties in expanding bilateral cooperation and voiced support for increased exchanges between their societies.
President Khurelsukh requested that South Korea consider granting Mongolian citizens preferential conditions or visa-free entry similar to existing short-term exemptions for Korean citizens; President Lee said he would consider cooperation on the matter.
The two leaders also reaffirmed close cooperation in international and regional fora and expressed their commitment to further deepen that cooperation. - Go Go Mongolia/ANN
