YANGON: A woman named Phyo Ei Ei Zaw, who claimed on social media that she would give money to anyone who called her a “goddess,” was arrested at a hotel in Mingalar Taungnyunt township.

According to a security source, she was arrested by authorities on Aug 30 at a well-known hotel in Mingalar Taungnyunt township.

Phyo Ei Ei Zaw is a popular social media figure, with over a million followers on TikTok and a large following on Facebook. She was known for flaunting money, including US dollars, wearing expensive jewelry, and posting videos in which she said she would reward people with money if they called her a goddess. Photos of her arrest are now circulating widely on social media.

At the same time, social media users have also been calling for the arrest of another woman known as Nora, who similarly boasted online about earning large sums of money and made the same claims about paying people to call her a goddess.

In one video, Nora said: “This is about 70 lakhs. I was already given 10 lakhs for snacks. Nora only works for one day, but for ordinary people, it would take four or five months to earn this much.”

Both women’s displays of extravagant spending, allegedly linked to the sex industry, sparked intense public criticism.

A social media user commented: “Doing bad work and showing off by wasting money freely sets a bad example. Other women may be misled. Action should be taken.”

Currently, some social media pages claim that Nora is in Thailand. - Eleven Media/ANN
