Meet Becca Bloom, the Silicon Valley heiress taking TikTok’s luxury trend ‘RichTok’ by storm

HANOI (VNExpress): Becca Bloom, real name Rebecca Ma, has become a TikTok sensation under the viral “RichTok” trend, captivating millions with luxury fashion hauls, jewelry splurges, finance tips, and glamorous daily routines.

Her rise began in early 2025 when a casual video of her cat went viral, The Teen Magazine reported.

Her follower count soon surged, and she is now one of TikTok’s most talked-about personalities, with over 4 million followers on the platform and nearly 2 million on Instagram. Bloom has since transformed her feed into a showcase of European shopping sprees, six-figure jewelry purchases, and elaborate date nights.

In one clip, she walked viewers through her "everyday" pieces, which included designs from Van Cleef & Arpels, Bulgari, and Cartier, along with a two-toned Rolex Datejust set with diamond indices. She also organized a giveaway in which a fan received a Van Cleef & Arpels Sweet Alhambra bracelet, valued at about $1,650, the South China Morning Post reported.

Her viral videos within the #RichTok trend, described by lifestyle magazine L’Officiel USA as "a front-row seat to the lifestyles of the rich and extremely online", propelled her to wider recognition and earned her a place on the 2025 TIME100 Most Influential Creators list. The Wall Street Journal described her as the antithesis of the "quiet luxury" movement, instead embracing overt extravagance.

Bloom grew up in Atherton, California, which CNBC named the most expensive city in the US

in 2024. Her parents, Simon Yiming Ma and Heidi Chou, met while working at IBM in Silicon Valley and later founded Camelot Information Systems, a prominent software company, according to the SCMP.

"They’re both incredibly successful entrepreneurs in tech and real estate," Bloom told fans on TikTok. "That said, I work just as hard to carve out my own path. Honestly, it motivates me even more."

After studying business economics and law at the University of Southern California, Bloom began a career in finance. She now blends career insights with her luxury content, breaking down concepts like "arbitrage" and "index funds" between designer unboxings and "get ready with me" clips.

"I can talk about shopping and also finance and dating," she told The Wall Street Journal. Her viewers have responded positively, with one commenting, "I feel so comfortable watching your videos," and another adding, "The first ACTUAL rich person on this app that gives off a calming and safe vibe."

Bloom said her intention is not to be aspirational but to be herself adding that her goal is to break concepts down for women, who make up 90% of her audience, and help them advance.

Bloom married her longtime fiancé, Amazon executive David Pownall, in Lake Como, Italy in late August. Their Villa Balbiano wedding, a favored celebrity destination, is estimated to cost up to $5 million, with flowers alone exceeding $500,000, Hola! magazine reported. -- VNExpress
