BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Ministry of Health (MoH) has taken action against an unlicensed beauty service provider following a joint raid on July 19.

A foreign woman was apprehended at a local apartment after being found offering cosmetic treatments without approval.

The operation was carried out with the Royal Brunei Police Force, Royal Customs and Excise Department, Department of Immigration and National Registration, and the Municipal Department.

Authorities discovered unnotified cosmetic products and medicinal items imported without prescription, which were used in treatments advertised on Instagram.

MoH reminded the public that importing, selling or using controlled medicines, health products and cosmetics without valid approval is an offence under the Medicines Act, Chapter 285.

The ministry urged the public to be cautious of unlicensed beauty and aesthetic services promoted on social media, stressing the health risks posed by unqualified practitioners.

It advised the public to seek advice from registered medical professionals before undergoing any procedures.

MoH reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding public health through enforcement and encouraged reports of illegal beauty services via the Compliance and Licensing Section at 2393301 ext. 208, email pharmacy.enforcement@moh.gov.bn
