Sniffer dog mauls four-year-old boy at Kolkata Airport; family cancels holiday plan to Malaysia

NEW DELHI (Bernama): A four-year-old boy was mauled by a sniffer dog on a leash at Kolkata airport in eastern India and resulting in his family cancelling their planned holiday to Malaysia.

The incident on Aug 12 required the child to seek anti-rabies treatment for a term of a few weeks.

The victim's father filed a police complaint against the animal handler for "incompetence" in controlling the dog, which was attached to the Customs Department, local media reported on Saturday.

The dog's handler "deserted his post and absconded with the dog", leaving the family stranded, the boy's father alleged in his complaint, according to a Times of India report. - Bernama
