YANGON: Basic education schools in Nawnghkio, which had been closed for nearly a year, reopened on July 25 with authorities continuing to enrol new students.

As part of efforts to ensure smooth schooling for the children, 22 basic education schools have reopened in the township.

On Aug 3 alone, an additional 490 students were enrolled, bringing the total number of students to 3,447.

To create a safe and pleasant learning environment, officials cleared bushes and weeds around No. 2 Basic Education High School and improved drainage systems.

Meanwhile, Nawnghkio People’s Hospital, which had been vandalised by insurgents, was reopened on Aug 2 to provide healthcare services to local residents.

On Aug 3, military doctors and hospital staff treated 108 patients (42 men and 66 women) for fever and general illnesses at the hospital. - Eleven Media/ANN
