YANGON: A fire and explosion occurred on board a product tanker flying the Hong Kong flag, which had seven Myanmar seafarers among its crew, according to a report by splash247.com.

The tanker had departed from Kandla Port in India and was en route to Sohar Port in Oman.

The vessel left port last Sunday (July 6) and reportedly caught fire and exploded about two hours after departure, then listed to starboard.

There were 21 crew members on board, including the captain: 11 Chinese nationals, seven Myanmar nationals, two Bangladeshi nationals, and one Indonesian national. The report stated that all crew members were successfully rescued.
