Lao central bank issues a warning on fake banknotes in circulation near the capital city


VIENTIANE (Xinhua): The Lao central bank has issued a warning to the public about the circulation of counterfeit banknotes, particularly in northern Laos.

The bank urged the public to be cautious against fake notes after the distribution of counterfeit 100,000-kip notes of the 2020 edition was detected in Houn district in Oudomxay province, some 310 km north of the Lao capital Vientiane.

The bank also asked the public to provide further information if any suspicious cases are found. People can report the detection of forged notes at various commercial banks nationwide. - Xinhua
