Myanmar military fighter jet goes missing during training flight

YANGON: A Myanmar military fighter jet has gone missing after losing contact during a training flight, Tatmadaw (armed forces of Myanmar) said in a statement.

The plane suddenly disappeared from radar due to bad weather conditions 130 kilometres southeast of Nay Pyi Taw on the night of July 1, it said.

Initial investigations by officials suggest that the incident may have been caused by mechanical failure or bad weather, and search and rescue teams are being sent to the area where the plane went missing despite the bad weather, it said.

The statement did not specify what type of aircraft the plane was. - Eleven Media/ANN
