US, China to hold trade talks in London on Monday (June 9) - Trump


WASHINGTON: (Bernama-QNA) United States (US) and Chinese officials will meet in London on Monday (June 9) to discuss trade matters, US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday (June 5).

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent, Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, and US Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer would represent the US in the meeting, Qatar news agency (QNA) reported.

"I am pleased to announce that Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent, Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, and US Trade Representative, Ambassador Jamieson Greer, will be meeting in London on Monday, June 9, 2025, with Representatives of China, concerning the Trade Deal,” Trump wrote.

The announcement came a day after Trump held a phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping amid ongoing trade tensions and disagreements over rare earth exports.

Washington and Beijing signed a 90-day agreement on May 12 to begin removing some of the high tariffs imposed on each other since Trump took office in January. - Bernama-QNA
