Brunei judo federation sends largest contingent to Penang meet

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Brunei Darussalam National Judo Federation (BDNJF) has fielded the largest ever contingent to an overseas meet at the Penang Invitational JICA Judo Championship to be held at the Sunshine Square Banquet Hall in Penang, Malaysia this weekend (April 12-13).

Twelve athletes will represent the country including Adam Aduka and Wajdi Shaffarani who will be the first pair to compete in the kata category.

Ten athletes will take part in the shiai (combat) category across various weight categories namely Fazi Abas, Farah Abidin, Shenna Wong, Zahir Sulaiman, Adam Aduka, Faris Zaini, Wajdi Shaffarani, Hafizzan Kadir, Najwan Ramlee and Danis Mohammadin.

As part of the itinerary of the Penang trip, the team attended a training camp and sports nutrition seminar on Friday. The 12-member strong team is also accompanied by Ali Alipah as the Head of Contingent and Coach; Assistant Coach Mateen Rajid, while Shenna Wong is also the manager.

The athletes will also engage in weigh-in commitments today before they are scheduled to fight tomorrow. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
