Laos focuses on scaling up resilient growth

VIENTIANE (Xinhua): Laos' Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), organised a workshop on scaling up financing for resilient growth in Laos.

The event, held in northern Laos' Luang Prabang province on Thursday, brought over 100 government officials, development partners, and sector experts to discuss strategies for fostering resilient growth in the country, Lao News Agency reported on Friday.

Lao Deputy Minister of Finance Soulivath Souvannachoumkham emphasized that discussions on natural disaster vulnerabilities and financing solutions would help shape the government's investment plans, ensuring they align with national climate and development priorities.

Also speaking at the meeting, Lao Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Phouvong Luangxaysana highlighted key climate-induced disasters, such as floods and droughts, that are affecting Laos.

He stressed the importance of strengthening regional and international cooperation to improve access to funding and enhance resilience to climate change.

The Lao government will continue collaborating with its development partners to promote resilient growth, with a focus on strengthening resilience in agriculture, health, and disaster management. - Xinhua
