BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) has issued a weather advisory warning of unstable conditions over the coming days, with heavy rainfall and strong winds expected across the country.

According to the latest forecast, periods of moderate to heavy rain are anticipated, particularly in the afternoon and evening. The downpour may lead to localised flooding, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

Thunderstorms are also likely to occur, accompanied by gusty winds that may pose risks to outdoor activities and unsecured structures.

The prevailing northeast monsoon is contributing to the unsettled weather, with wind speeds expected to reach between 40 and 50 km/h during heavy showers. Coastal areas may experience rough sea conditions, with waves potentially rising to heights of 2.5 metres, making maritime activities hazardous.

Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure safety.

Motorists are advised to drive with caution due to possible reduced visibility and slippery road conditions. Those living in areas susceptible to flooding should stay updated with official weather alerts and be prepared for potential evacuations if necessary.

Meanwhile, the BDMD continues to monitor the situation closely and will provide timely updates through its official channels. Residents are encouraged to follow advisories issued by the department and avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather conditions. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
