Indonesia delivers 700 locally made Maung MV3 vehicles to military and police

JAKARTA (Bernama): Indonesia’s Defence Ministry has handed over 700 Maung MV3 operational vehicles to the military and police to strengthen national defence and security, with plans to deliver at least 4,000 units in total.

Designed by PT Pindad, the vehicles are highly mobile, capable of being armed for combat, and built to support both military and non-military operations, while also bolstering the national automotive industry, according to a ministry statement.

Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin presented the vehicles to Armed Forces Commander General Agus Subiyanto and Police chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo at Husein Sastranegara Air Force Base in Bandung, West Java, on Saturday.

He emphasised that the vehicles would be continuously deployed across the country as Indonesia’s national defence industry develops to support government efforts in maintaining national stability and providing operational support to both the military and police.

The Maung MV3 can be equipped with a 7.62mm calibre machine gun for combat operations.

Powered by a 2,200cc turbo diesel engine, the vehicle can reach speeds of up to 100 km/h and has a range of up to 500 km. - Bernama
