Over 120,000 Myanmar students receive nutritious meals under school nutrition programme

YANGON: Over 120,000 students in Myanmar's Ayeyarwady region received nutritious meals on Monday (under a school nutrition programme, state-run Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV) reported on Wednesday (Feb 19).

The programme for first-grade students in the region was implemented by the Department of Basic Education under the Ministry of Education, the report said.

It aims to educate students about the three essential food groups and the importance of a balanced diet, the report added.

The meals were prepared to ensure that the first graders receive an average of 550 calories, it said.

In Ayeyarwady region, there are over 7,000 schools where first-grade students are studying, the report added. - Xinhua
