Laos sets key policies for socio-economic development in 2025

VIENTIANE: The Lao government and the Standing Committee of the Lao National Assembly have agreed on key policies and legislative priorities to drive Laos' socio-economic development in 2025.

During their second joint meeting, co-chaired by Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and President of the Lao National Assembly Xaysomphone Phomvihane, the two bodies reviewed the outcomes of the first joint meeting in 2024, assessed coordination efforts, and defined policy priorities to achieve the country's development targets.

Discussions included the preparation of draft laws, as well as amendments and revisions to regulations concerning infrastructure, industrial estates, mineral development, and power generation, Lao national TV reported on Tuesday.

The meeting on Friday also focused on improving policies related to state investment, the 2025 budget, and fuel imports.

Resolutions from the meeting will be documented for implementation, serving as a guide to ensure effective governance, political stability, and improved living standards for all ethnic groups in Laos. - Xinhua
