UK-Brunei academic link a significant milestone, says vice-chancellor

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Vice-Chancellor Dr Hazri Kifle emphasised that the partnership with United Kingdom government’s Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas) represents a significant milestone in both institutions’ commitment to advancing knowledge and promoting sustainable practices in environmental science, fisheries and aquaculture.

He said this during the memorandum of understanding signing ceremony between UBD and Cefas, based at Weymouth in Dorset, UK.

The agreement was signed by Dr Hazri on behalf of UBD and Chief Executive Officer of Cefas Neil Hornby. The signing ceremony was also attended by Acting British High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Catherine Pochkanavala-Cleeve, as well as senior members of UBD’s management team.

Kifle also expressed UBD’s enthusiasm about collaborating with Cefas scientists to address the environmental challenges and opportunities in this region – also echoed by the Cefas CEO. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
