Brunei facing low blood supplies; blood donation campaign nationwide to boost supply

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): The Brunei Ministry of Health continues to face low blood supplies at blood donation centres and blood banks across the nation.

Blood donors of all blood groups are urgently needed to ensure sufficient supplies for blood transfusions in all hospitals in the country.

The Blood Donation Centre under the Department of Laboratory Services will host several blood donation campaigns this week to encourage public participation and help increase blood supplies.

Tomorrow, a blood donation drive will take place at the auditorium of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali from 9am to 11.30am and 1.30pm to 3pm.

On February 18, a blood donation campaign will be held at the atrium of the Health Promotion Centre from 9am to 3pm.

A blood drive is scheduled for February 19 at Fathan & Co Advocate and Solicitor from 10am to 3pm.

UBD Corporation Sdn Bhd will organise a blood donation drive on February 20 at The CORE, Universiti Brunei Darussalam. The event will be from 9am to 11.30am and 1pm to 3pm.

The Rotary Club of Bandar Seri Begawan will organise a blood donation drive on February 22 from 9am to 2pm at the GWM showroom in Beribi.

In addition to these campaigns, the public can also donate blood at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital’s Blood Donation Centre during office hours, from 8am to 11.30am and 1.30pm to 4pm.
