Anirudh's mega concert to feature three local rising talents as opening acts at Bukit Jalil on Jan 31


Three rising local Indian music stars who are hitting the limelight in recent times will share the stage with globally acclaimed Indian music sensation Anirudh Ravichander in the final leg of his highly praised ‘Hukum World Tour’ takes centre stage at Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil here on Jan 31.

The three young stars who will be the opening act for Anirudh in the spectacular concert are Ezra Kairo, Zubir Khan and Singapore boy Sanjay better known as SJY.

Ezra and Zubir have been the talk of town among local Tamic music fans since the duo's 'OMK' (Oh My Kadhale) hit the charts last year. In fact. 'OMK' song hit more than 1.7 million views in just three weeks.

The catchy and melodious number was even trending at number one on the YouTube video music chart since its May 17, 2024, release on all digital music platforms. Most importantly, OMK — which combines the Malay and Tamil pop genres — even had more than 500,000 listeners on Spotify.

Ezra is a Malaysian male singer, who is started to be known from his 'underground' English songs on YouTube. Ezra started singing at the age of 16 but started actively uploading his songs on digital platforms such as YouTube in 2019.

Ezra's name started to rise in the music industry in March 2020 during the Movement Control Order (MCO) through the song "Come Thru". With the help of TikTok, this song received a warm welcome as far as South Africa, India, Brunei, Russia, Mauritius, Maldives, Singapore and Indonesia.

Ezra's duet partner, Zubir, who is of Indian Muslim descent, is known for writing, composing and singing catchy songs such as 'Anak Helang' and 'Kinrara'.

The talented singer and composer lost his right hand in an accident at the age of 4.

In 2017, he started gaining attention through his Tamil cover songs.

In addition to 'OMK', Zubir has six other Tamil compositions, namely 'Thevadhai', 'Nenji Yenguthu', 'Marainthe Uyire', 'Soga Kathai', 'Per Yenne Solle' and 'Yennode Macha'.

His music videos have garnered millions of views on YouTube.

Sanjay, better known as SJY, is a singer-songwriter and clothing brand founder.

His song “AMMADI” has gained over 500,000 views on YouTube and been used for over 10,000 videos on TikTok.

The self-taught musician started releasing music in his teens, which mixes English and Tamil with rap, R&B and Afrobeats. SJY also has a clothing brand, “SUPERHERO BOYFRIEND”.

Meanwhile, Anirudh, the 34-year-old music composer and playback singer expressed his excitement via Instagram during the recent Pongal celebrations, saying: "What’s up Malaysia? Gear up for the final leg of my Hukum World Tour in Bukit Jalil on Jan 31.”

Marking the first Indian concert in Malaysia for 2025, the show is organised by local event management company MM Morgan, led by Daisy Morgan and her partners, Gina Soman. Lazshana Parthiban and Zuleika Marie Gomez.

The event is also supported by sponsors Thamarai Jewellers, Starbucks, Erawan Security, Terra Entertainment, Legsgo Holidays, Kaara Saaram, WCHEM and 9Skin.

"This is a great honour for us and Malaysia, as Anirudh has chosen Kuala Lumpur to conclude his highly successful ‘Hukum World Tour’,” Daisy said.

"This concert will feature all his best songs and also current hits with super background support. The stage itself is going to be one spectacular effort from all of us,"

Having mesmerised fans in the United States, London, Dubai, Sydney, Melbourne and Singapore, the tour has garnered widespread acclaim, with the London O2 Arena show hailed as one of the year’s most extraordinary musical experiences.

The Jan 31 concert also marks Anirudh’s return to Malaysia after his last performance in 2022.

Fans can expect an unforgettable performance featuring his signature hit ‘Hukum’ from the Tamil blockbuster ‘Jailer’, starring Rajinikanth.

For the record, Anirudh is now one of the most prominent music-makers in contemporary Indian cinema, Anirudh shot to fame when his debut song 'Why This Kolaveri Di' for the 2012 film 3 went viral. It has clocked more than 485 million views on YouTube.

He has since won numerous accolades for his songs and soundtrack work, including 10 at the South Indian International Movie Awards, six at the Edison Awards, five at the Vijay awards and two at the Filmfare Awards South.

In 2016, he signed a record deal with Sony Music, which publishes his independent albums and live concerts.[6] In the same year, he featured with Diplo on the remix of Major Lazer's hit single "Cold Water".

Besides 'Why This Kolaveri Di' his famous super hit Tamil songs includes 'Chennai City Gangsta, 'Sirikkadhey' 'Vaathi Coming' and of course 'Hukum' for the super blockbuster movie 'Jailer'. The first single of Vikram titled "Pathala Pathala" received several million views from fans. His songs composed for the Shahrukh Khan super blockbuster 'Jawan' is also unforgettable to this date.

He is also set to collaborate with Ajith Kumar for his 62nd film Vidaamuyarchi this year directed by Magizh Thirumeni. That effort also marks his third collaboration with Ajith after Vedalam and Vivegam.
