Six students awarded Brunei-Singapore youth scholarship

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Scholarship Award and Agreement Signing Ceremony for the Brunei Darussalam-Republic of Singapore Youth Scholarship Programme 2024/2025 session took place on Saturday (Nov 23) at the Auditorium Hall of Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Romaizah Md Salleh as guest of honour.

Representing the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam during the signing ceremony was Acting Director of the Department of Scholarship Management, Dayang Rosimah Sumaimah Matassim, while the Republic of Singapore was represented by High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam Laurence Bay Siow Hon.

Scholarship recipients signed the agreements alongside two guarantors, who were either their parents, guardians, or close relatives.

A total of six students were awarded the prestigious scholarship, enabling them to pursue secondary-level studies in Singapore starting January 2025.

Among the recipients was Ahmad Syazwi Syahiran Sahrin from Sekolah Arab Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, who will attend Dunman Secondary School.

Brothers Ricardo and Reynaldo Gallardo Chong, both from St Andrew’s School, will enrol in Temasek Secondary School.

Fayruz Amsyar Hammry from Chung Hwa Tutong School and On Jing Yee from St Andrew’s School will both join Ngee Ann Secondary School.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Qahir Saaduddin Abdul Quddus from Ma’had Islam Brunei will also continue his studies at Ngee Ann Secondary School.
