Hong Kong education authorities have said they are following up on a complaint filed by a mother over the handling of alleged bullying of her son at an international school, which dismissed the case after preliminary investigations.
The pupil at the Canadian International School in Aberdeen claimed he was bullied by his classmates, according to a report by a Chinese-language media outlet.
The mother told media outlets her son was forcibly picked up and thrown onto a bench by his classmates during recess on August 22, leaving bruises on his knees. The boy had reportedly told his mother he had been bullied for a year.

After reviewing security footage and interviewing relevant parties, however, the school rejected the mother’s allegations, according to reports.
The mother then filed a complaint to the Education Bureau after the school allegedly refused to let her view its CCTV footage.
The bureau told the Post it had immediately followed up on the complaint to understand the investigation, and asked the school to submit a report.
Canadian International School had been in touch with parents of students involved through emails and interviews, the bureau added.
It said it would maintain close contact with the school and provide appropriate support.
Melanie Hnetka, the school’s senior manager of communications, told the Post on Tuesday it would not comment further at this stage as the matter had been referred to the institution’s legal counsel, who was handling the issue on its behalf.
