TOKYO: A woman who was swept out to sea after she went swimming off a beach in Japan was rescued about 80km off the coast after 36 hours, officials said on Thursday (July 11).

The local coast guard launched a search-and-rescue operation after the alarm was raised for the Chinese national in her 20s in the central Shizuoka region on the evening of July 8.
