Brunei Sultan gets warm welcome in Bangkok

BANGKOK: Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah is in Bangkok, Thailand for a two-day official visit which ends on April 29 (Monday).

Accompanying the monarch is his son Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.

The monarch was welcomed on arrival at Suvarnabhumi International Airport by Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin and introduced to Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Pirapan Salirathavibhaga as the minister-in-attendance; and Thai Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Boosara Kanchanalai.

Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Erywan Mohd Yusof and Brunei Darussalam Ambassador to Thailand Pengiran Haji Sahari Salleh were also present to greet the monarch.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Sultanate and Thailand since it was established on January 1, 1984.

The official visit will provide an opportunity for the two countries to discuss bilateral as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
