SINGAPORE (Bernama-Xinhua): Singapore is the world's most globally connected country, followed by the Netherlands and Ireland, according to the latest Global Connectedness Report 2024 released by logistic giant DHL.

Developed port operations and thriving financial services enable Singapore to excel in globalisation, the report noted, adding that Europe is the most globally connected region.

Statistics from the report showed that the average distance traversed by trade slightly declined last year from the peak in 2022, remaining the second-longest distance on record since 2001.

Based on such data, the report stressed that globalisation remains resilient, and it is too soon to judge that more regionalised trade patterns are underway.

The report studied 181 economies on international trade, capital, information, and people flows. - Bernama-Xinhua
