NEW DELHI: A man from Mancherial district in Telangana allegedly bit off a portion of his wife’s nose during a quarrel after she refused to return to their matrimonial home.
According to the NDTV report, the incident took place on Monday (Sept 14) at the woman’s parents’ house in Kotapalli mandal.
Husband attacks wife during quarrel
The woman, identified as Mamata, suffered a serious injury to her nose in the attack. She was given initial treatment before being shifted to MGM Hospital in Warangal for further medical care.
Mamata, who lives at the mandal headquarters, married Enagandla Manichander of Mallampet village around nine years ago. The couple has two daughters.
The couple had been facing marital problems for some time. About 10 days before the incident, a dispute between them led Mamata to leave her husband’s house and move to her parents’ home. Manichander had reportedly been asking her to return, but she refused.
Father also injured in attack
On Monday, Manichander allegedly went to his in-laws’ house and got into an argument with Mamata’s father, Narayana. During the quarrel, he allegedly attacked Narayana with a wooden stick, leaving him with a serious head injury and heavy bleeding.
When Mamata stepped in to stop the attack, Manichander allegedly assaulted her and bit her nose. A portion of her nose was reportedly severed in the incident.
Family members and others at the house arranged medical help for Mamata before she was shifted to MGM Hospital in Warangal.
Kotapalli Sub-Inspector Rajasekhar confirmed that a case had been registered against Manichander. Further investigation is underway. - The Statesman/ANN
