PHNOM PENH: Cambodia Pepper and Spices Federation (CPSF) and Khmer Organic Cooperative Co, Ltd. launched on Monday (Dec 18) an "Export Development Programme," aimed at boosting the exports of Cambodia's agricultural products, said a joint press release.

Held in the southwestern coastal city of Sihanoukville, the launching event brought together over 200 companies and organisations, including modern trade and supermarkets, distribution companies, processors, exporters and agricultural cooperatives.

Kim Meassokseiha, undersecretary of state at the Ministry of Commerce, said the programme's goal is to increase competitiveness of Cambodian agricultural products, specifically organic products in export markets.

According to the press release, the "Export Development Programme" is a comprehensive programme that aims to support CPSF members and their partners with knowledge and skills through a variety of selected activities.

Agriculture is one of the four pillars supporting the country's economy in addition to garment, footwear and travel goods exports, tourism, and real estate and construction.

The kingdom shipped 7.31 million tonnes of agricultural products to 75 countries and regions during the first 11 months of 2023, making a gross revenue of US$3.9 billion, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries' latest report. - Xinhua
