Hong Kong has set “aggressive” goals to ramp up its fisheries and agricultural output in the next 15 years while transforming farming practices with better technology, but industry representatives have warned of major obstacles posed by a shortage of talent and land.
The Environment and Ecology Bureau unveiled the blueprint on Thursday, fleshing out a vision that Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu introduced in his policy address last year. The plan elaborated on eight major areas of development and ways to ensure sustainability of the industry, which included drawing new workers to the sector.
