Hong Kong’s status as international city high on agenda at Financial Secretary Paul Chan’s talks in Beijing


Hong Kong’s role as an international financial hub to boost national development has been high on the agenda in discussions between senior Beijing officials and Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po this week and some analysts said it was a sign of the central government’s more hands-on approach to the city’s affairs.

Some analysts also said they thought Beijing was concerned about the city’s economic development as the global political situation remained tense.
