Seized - 48kg of heroin in eastern Myanmar


YANGON (Xinhua): Myanmar authorities have seized 48.4 kilograms of narcotic drugs worth over 720 million kyats (over US$342,857) in eastern Myanmar's Shan state, according to a release from the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) on Wednesday (March 1).

Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotics police searched a vehicle in Nawnghkio township of northern Shan state on Feb. 21 and confiscated the heroin being carried in soap containers, the release said.
