Hong Kong finance chief stuck in Saudi Arabia after catching Covid-19

HONG KONG (Reuters): Hong Kong’s Financial Secretary Paul Chan (pic) tested positive for Covid-19 during a visit to Saudi Arabia and will stay there for a “short while” to observe health requirements, the city’s government said on Thursday (Oct 27).

Chan is due to deliver a keynote speech at an international banking conference in Hong Kong on Wednesday next week, the most high-profile event in the city since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, which officials hope will signal its reopening after more than two years of border restrictions.
