Singapore reports 6,181 new Covid-19 cases and three deaths on Sunday (Oct 16)


SINGAPORE, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- Singapore reported 6,181 new cases of COovid-19 on Sunday, bringing the total tally to 2,012,065.

Of the new cases, 744 were detected through PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests and 5,437 through ART (antigen rapid test) tests, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Health.

Among the PCR cases, 725 were local transmissions and 19 were imported cases. Among the ART cases with mild symptoms and assessed to be of low risk, there were 5,301 local transmissions and 136 imported cases.

A total of 600 cases are currently warded in hospitals, with 13 in intensive care units.

Three new deaths from Covid-19 were reported on Sunday, taking the total death toll to 1,644. - Xinhua
