Their Majesties to make state visit to Singapore

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/Asia News Network): His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa‘adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam will make a state visit to Singapore from Aug 24 to 25.

The state visit of His Majesty is at the invitation of Singaporean President Halimah Yacob in further strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

During the state visit, His Majesty is expected to make a courtesy call to the Singaporean President, as well as meet with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

Brunei Darussalam and Singapore have a close and unique relationship, established through the friendship between Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa‘adul Khairi Waddien ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam and the late Dato Laila Utama Lee Kuan Yew, the former prime minister of Singapore.

The two countries have strong cooperation in a number of areas including defence, health, education, as well as trade and investment.
