BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: A total of 3,792 international passengers and 1,205 crew members arrived in Brunei aboard the Adora Magic City recently, marking the cruise ship’s maiden call to the Sultanate.
The arrival on Aug 31 marked the 19th international cruise ship to visit Brunei this year and the largest cruise ship call to date in terms of passenger capacity on a single visit, according to the Tourism Development Department.
The vessel arrived from Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, before continuing to Vietnam as part of its regional voyage.
The latest arrival brings the number of cruise passengers visiting Brunei this year to a growing total, with the Tourism Development Department expecting more than 10 additional international cruise ships to call at the Sultanate before the end of 2026.
During their port of call, passengers visited attractions including Istana Nurul Iman, Kampong Ayer, Jame’ Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque and the Royal Regalia Museum.
Visitors from the cruise ship also shared positive impressions of their experience in Brunei Darussalam. Han, a passenger from China, described the visit as a pleasant experience, highlighting Brunei’s peaceful environment and friendly people.
Another passenger, Lee found Brunei to be a great country and enjoyed the opportunity to explore the Sultanate during the port of call. Wang also commented positively on his experience, particularly appreciating Brunei’s peaceful atmosphere and warm hospitality.
The department said the continued cruise arrivals are expected to support local tourism operators, transport providers, guides, restaurants and other tourism-related businesses. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
