BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Air quality in Brunei-Muara and Belait deteriorated to unhealthy levels Wednesday morning, with Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) readings of 113 and 118 respectively at 9am.
According to the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe), Ministry of Development, Temburong and Tutong recorded moderate air quality, with PSI readings of 92 and 93 respectively.
The latest readings showed a slight improvement in Brunei-Muara compared with the 7am reading of 123, while Belait edged up from 117. Tutong also improved from an unhealthy reading of 104 at 7am to 93 at 9am, while Temburong rose slightly from 90 to 92.
A PSI reading below 50 is classified as Good, 51-100 as Moderate, 101-200 as Unhealthy, 201-300 as Very Unhealthy, and above 300 as Hazardous.
The department’s 7am reading showed unhealthy air quality in Brunei-Muara, Belait and Tutong, while Temburong remained at the moderate level. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
