Japan provides US$5 million for UXO clearance


VIENTIANE, April 4 (VIentiane Times/ANN): UXO clearance in Laos will be accelerated now that the government of Japan has provided equipment to train future UXO clearance personnel and support further clearance activities, worth about US$5 million.

Exchange Notes between the Lao and Japanese governments agreeing to the scheme were signed in Vientiane by Laos’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Phoxay Khaykhamphithoune and the Ambassador of Japan to Laos, Mr Kenichi Kobayashi.
