Vietnam reports 14,861 new Covid-19 cases as Hanoi hits another record on Tuesday (Jan 4)

HANOI, Jan. 4 (XVietnam News/ANN): The city of Hanoi registered a record high of 2,499 new daily Covid-19 infections on Tuesday, as a total of 14,861 transmissions were confirmed nationwide.

It was the third consecutive day the capital had over 2,000 cases, and it was again the leading locality for transmissions.

Of the daily caseload, 32 were imported, the rest domestic and 10,864 community transmissions.

The total number of coronavirus cases in the country since the start of the pandemic now stands at 1,800,704.

Off the 14,861 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday there 14,829 locally transmitted and 32 imported, according to the Ministry of Health.

Besides capital Hanoi's 2,499 cases the other high cases were southern Tay Ninh province with 916 cases and central Khanh Hoa province with 797 cases.
