Cases keep rising due to the holiday season as Philippines logs 3,617 new Covid-19 cases, total rises to 2,847,486 on New Year Day

MANILA, Jan. 1 (Xinhua): The Philippines' health department on Saturday reported 3,617 new Covid-19 infections, taking its total to 2,847,486.

The department also reported 43 more deaths from Covid-19 complications, bringing the country's death toll to 51,545.
