HANOI, Dec. 10 (Xinhua): Vietnam reported 14,839 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, including 14,819 locally transmitted and 20 imported, according to the Ministry of Health.
Most of the community cases were reported in southern localities, including 1,226 in Ho Chi Minh City, 894 in Soc Trang province, and 893 in Tay Ninh province.
The infections brought the country's total tally to 1,382,272 with 27,402 deaths, said the ministry.
Nationwide, 1,052,341 Covid-19 patients have recovered, up 1,362 from Thursday.
According to the Ministry of Health’s report, a total of 7,681 patients nationwide are in serious condition, with 849 requiring invasive ventilation and 14 on life support.
Some 131 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccines, including around 56.4 million second shots, have been administered, according to the ministry.
Vietnam has gone through four coronavirus waves of increasing scale, complication, and infectivity.
As of Friday, the country has registered nearly 1.38 million locally transmitted Covid-19 cases since the start of the current wave in late April, the ministry said. - Xinhua
