Vietnam reports 3,373 new Covid-19 cases as country all set to vaccinate children from the age of 1-12

HANOI, Oct 23 (Vietnam News/ANN): Vietnam reported 3,373 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, including 3,361 locally transmitted and 12 imported, according to the country's Ministry of Health.

Most of the community cases were detected in southern localities, including 749 in Ho Chi Minh City, 605 in Dong Nai province, and 517 in Binh Duong province.

The new infections brought the country's total tally to 884,895, with 21,620 deaths, the ministry said.

Nationwide, 804,664 Covid-19 patients have so far recovered, up 1,338 from Friday, while nearly 72 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered, according to the ministry.

As of Saturday, Vietnam has registered 880,149 locally transmitted Covid-19 cases since the start of the current wave in late April, the ministry said.

According to the Ministry of Health’s report, 2,977 patients nationwide are in serious condition, with 16 on life support (ECMO).

A further 1,338 patients were given the all-clear on Saturday, taking the total number of recoveries to 804,664.

HCM City’s Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control has announced a plan to vaccinate children aged between 12 and 17. About 780,000 children aged 12-17 in the city are expected to get a vaccination.

Almost 1.66 million vaccine doses were administered in Vietnam on Saturday.

The country has now inoculated 71.8 million doses of vaccine to date, with more than 20.7 million people fully vaccinated. - Vietnam News/ANN
