Brunei launches month-long cleaning campaign to increase public safety and cleanliness against Covid-19

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Oct 10 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Cleaning campaigns will be held throughout October at several premises falling under the Brunei-Muara District Office, as part of the initiative to keep premises safe and tidy.

On Saturday (Oct 9), the focus was on Kampong STKRJ Rimba Simpang 51 Stalls.

Government agencies including the Fire and Rescue Department; and the Department of Water Services at the Public Works Department (JKR) lent a helping hand in the initiative.

As the Sultanate faces the second wave of the Covid-19 outbreak, cleanliness is paramount for public safety.

The Brunei-Muara District Office said the cleaning campaign aims to ensure the cleanliness of premises under it, implemented by the Market and Stall Unit Supervisor and Labour, District Development Division.

The cleaning campaigns will be conducted on a regular and scheduled basis which will be announced from time to time. The clean-up entails a one-day closure of the premises.

The Kampong Jangsak Stall is next on the initiative’s clean up list scheduled for October 13.

Meanwhile, Three new Covid-19 clusters were identified yesterday bringing the total number of active clusters to 156, said Brunei's Ministry of Health on Saturday evening (Oct 9).

The country also registered 135 new Covid-19 infection cases, bringing the national tally to 8,599.

Two of the new clusters were Adinin Works and Engineering Sdn Bhd Cluster; and Tendrill International Sdn Bhd Cluster. They are housing units for employees.
