Leaders of Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia meet to strengthen ties

HANOI (Vientiane Times/Asia News Network): The top leaders of Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia have agreed to further strengthen friendly relations and cooperation in various fields for the benefit of the citizens of the three countries.

Secretary General of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trọng, and President of the Cambodian People’s Party and Prime Minister of Cambodia Hun Sen met in Hanoi on Sunday (Sept 26) to discuss areas of cooperation.

The leaders of the three parties said they greatly appreciated the significance of the meeting and informed each other of the current situation with respect to their party and country.

Talks covered the work of their respective parties and socio-economic development, especially in the context of the fight against Covid-19, according to the External Relations Committee of the Party Central Committee.

The three party leaders discussed their cooperation in recent years and directions for the future, and agreed on the importance of the traditional relations, solidarity and friendship among the three parties and countries.

The leaders also agreed to strengthen cooperation in various fields, further foster their effective cooperation mechanisms, and continue sharing ideas and working together in these fields in the future, for the benefit of the people of the three countries and in the interests of peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world as a whole.

During the meeting, Thongloun held bilateral talks with Nguyen Phu Trọng, Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Hun Sen to further discuss cooperation.
